From 6 to 8 June (Pentecost weekend), the 51st edition of Jazz in Duketown will take place on various stages in the city centre of 's-Hertogenbosch. Jazz in Duketown is the largest free (open-air) jazz festival in the Netherlands, with more than 150,000 visitors per year.
The festival focuses on jazz and related music genres, such as soul and funk-related jazz. Jazz in Duketown also programmes new, upcoming bands, which will later be seen at other (non-jazz) festivals. The broad and innovative programme shows that jazz is for all ages.
Jazz in Duketown offers a stage for new talent. In addition to programming new, upcoming bands, the festival is a springboard for students at conservatories. For the Conservatorium Talent Award, the best jazz students from the eight conservatories in the Netherlands compete for the coveted award. The winner performs during Jazz in Duketown and is supported with workshops.
